Hi Girlie! I'm Ilona.

Only a few people can say they love what they do, and I always considered myself lucky to be one of them.  

I’ve been involved in the hairstyling industry since high school and that is when I caught the “hairstyling bug.”  My journey officially started in 2004 when I became a licensed professional and got my first job at a small upscale salon in Orange County NY.  There I learned all the basics of doing hair and I built an amazing clientele. 

In 2013, my thirst for new knowledge and experiences took me to the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  I worked as a hair color specialist with one of the most talented teams of hairstylists in NYC.  That 6-year long experience took my color skills to the next level and made me the colorist I am today.

 

In August 2019, I took another leap of faith and opened Suite Beauty By Ilona.  There is no better feeling than welcoming my amazing clients in my own space.  I finally found a place where I can be creative and develop my client relationships without the hustle and bustle of a crowded salon.

This huge change also allowed me to regain a work/life balance that was missing for a long time.

When I’m not creating behind the chair, you can find me cooking dinner with a glass of wine and country music on, binge watching terrible tv shows, taking a spin class, or reading romance novels.  If its the weekend, I’m probably enjoying a beautiful NYC day having brunch or visiting my friends and family.  My #1 guilty pleasure is country concerts.  If there is a show in town, you can bet I’m there with my cowboy boots on, singing my heart out.

 

One of my favorite parts of doing hair has always been and always will be the “big reveal.”  It's the moment a client sees their finished look and falls in love with their hair all over again.  So whether you are looking to add some brighter and dimensional pieces to your hair, conceal those pesky silver hairs, or reshape your haircut, I am here for you.  We can work magic on your hair while we catch up and who knows? Maybe even share some recipes or makeup tips.
